 Skype is a software that allows you to enjoy a conversation with anyone in the world. Individuals use Skype to make free voice and video one-to-one or even group calls, share files and send instant messages to others.

STARTING THE APP:

After Installing the app,the user must have to create an account in order to use it.The process of account formation is simple as it  requires:

·     Phone number

·     First and  the last name

.    One time password

WHY USE SKYPE?

There are various pros which are given to us by skype app,some of which are discussed below:

Send and Receive Files:

Skype is helpful for sending and receiving files quickly. I use Skype to send photos, spreadsheets, screenshots, PDFs, and other files to my coworkers on a daily basis.

Search Permanent Group Chats

Another way to regularly use Skype is to have group chats (instant messaging with multiple people). Once created, group chat rooms are permanent – you don’t have to do anything special to save them. Your entire chat history is saved by Skype without any effort on your part. You can easily search through your chat history at any time by pressing Ctrl-F in the chat box.

To create a group chat, click on the button that looks like there are several people in it.

You can then drag the names of contacts you want to add to the chat room. Or, you can click on the plus button to add contacts.By the way, you can also click the plus button to create group chat rooms when you’re already chatting with someone. This feature is helpful when I’m already talking to someone, but we realize we want to add another person into the conversation. I click the plus button, add a contact, and now I have a group chat room.

Skype is famous for their free online calls. To dial a mobile or land line number, look for the phone icon to bring up a dial pad on your Skype app:

Send SMS Text Messages

You can send SMS messages around the world.To send an SMS message, right-click on the name of the contact, then select “Send SMS Message.” You can then enter your message in the message box and click “Send” to text them.

Receive Calls From Anyone With a Skype Number:

You can get a Skype Number that anyone can call from their phone. The Skype Number looks just like a regular number — it has a three-digit area code plus seven digits. When someone calls your Skype Number, you can pick up the call from any device with Skype installed (e.g. your cell phone, desktop computer, laptop, Xbox, tablet, etc). You can select a number from a wide variety of area codes in Pakistan  and in several countries.

Free Skype-to-Skype Video Calls to Anyone in the World

You might already know that you can make free Skype-to-Skype audio calls, but did you know you can make free Skype-to-Skype video calls as well?

You can make a video call on any computer or device that has a front-facing camera. Simply select the person you want to call from your contact list and click the “Video call” button.

Screen sharing:

Need to collaborate with a client or give a friend a tutorial? With Skype, you can share your screen with whoever you're calling, making it easy to work on projects together.This is surely one of the best advantage of skype for discussing something.

Some major drawbacks of skype app:

As mentioned above are the numerous benefits provided by the skype but like everything it also have some cons mentioned below:

VOIP Provider:

The major drawback of it is that Skype is a voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) provider, your video or audio connection will only be as good as your Internet connectivity. If your connection is slow or intermittent, you might have trouble placing or staying connected to a call.So one must have a good 3G of 4G connection in order to fluently run the app.

No language translation services.

You can communicate with people over Skype from different countries, but there is no current way to fill in a communications gap if there are language differences. In order to communicate with a video call, both parties need to have a language they share in common. If instant messaging, the text has to be copied and pasted into a translation site to determine the meaning of what has been said.

Skype Credit:

Although Skype offers a free account, there are several other interactive features you must pay for if you want to use them. If you would like to use additional features such as unlimited calls to any country in the world, cell phone calling or SMS, you must pay for credit, get a subscription package or buy Skype Premium. Depending on your financial situation, the cost of some of these upgrades may not be feasible.

MY PERSONAL OPINION ABOUT THIS APP

I Personally recommend this app to those who feels comfortable in video calling rather than texting and this app is much recommended to people around the globe doing business because by the help of video calling feature the company can connect with its coworkers by a single tap and it also help in limiting the amount the company spend on phone bills.
